Our story starts from the love for chess...

The Limassol Chess Club was founded in order to promote the spread and development of chess in Limassol and throughout Cyprus. As a non-profit association, we are a meeting point for lovers of the sport, from beginners to experienced players.

Since our establishment, we have organized tournaments, educational programs, as well as events that promote sportsmanship and fair play. We work closely with the Cyprus Chess Federation, the Cyprus Sports Organisation and international bodies, bringing our local community in touch with the world chess map.

We are proud of our progress and look forward to continuing to promote the magic of chess to all.

Our team is the heart of the Limassol Chess Club.
Our Board of Directors, consisting of competent and dedicated members, works daily for the smooth operation of the Club and the achievement of our goals.
Members of the Board of Directors:

Chairman: Leads and represents the Group in all activities and initiatives.
The Chairman: supports the Chairman and replaces him when required.
Secretary General: Manages communications, minutes and general organisation.
Treasurer: Ensures financial transparency and proper management of resources.
Competition and Evaluation Supervisor: Supervises and organises chess events and evaluations.

Pambos Zacharoplastis

Charalambos Zacharoplastis is one of the most important personalities of Cypriot chess, with many years of experience in teaching and promoting the sport. As President of the Chess Friends Club and an active member of the Cyprus Chess Federation, he has dedicated his life to the dissemination and development of chess in Cyprus.

He holds the internationally recognized title of FIDE Chess Instructor since 2016, while he is also a National Chess Arbiter and National Chess Organiser, contributing to the conduct of high level matches and tournaments. For his valuable contribution to youth chess, he was awarded a commendation and diploma by FIDE.

His educational activities extend to all-day and private schools, to the educational programs of the Ministry of Education, and to collaborations with community councils and bodies promoting chess. With passion and dedication, he continues to inspire and train the new generation of chess players, contributing to the development of the sport in Cyprus.

Eleni Philippou

Eleni Philippou is a chess coach with many years of experience in the field of education. With a degree in Computer Engineering and a specialization in coaching, she has dedicated herself to learning chess, helping students of all ages to discover the strategy and creativity that the sport offers.

Eleni has worked as a teacher in various Ministry of Education programs and has been a certified chess instructor since 2018. With her skills, she encourages her students to develop logical thinking, patience and concentration through the magic of chess.

With a rich teaching background and a love for education, Helen inspires her students to grow and enjoy the sport, building the foundation for their future progress.

Maria Ioannou

Maria Ioannou is the coach of the Limassol Chess Club, with extensive experience in training children and adults in chess. With a degree in Primary Education and a specialization in chess coaching, Maria has the knowledge and patience to cultivate the skills of her students, regardless of their level.

Our coach combines her teaching experience with a dynamic approach to the sport, enhancing strategic thinking and concentration. In addition, she is certified in First Aid, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all participants.

With a passion for chess and education, Maria inspires young and old alike to love the game and discover their unlimited potential!
